Short one for you! As you might know from the last list we made together, I love to read and have made a conscious effort to read more books instead of numbly scrolling.
Summer presents a sparkling opportunity to bask in the summer sun with a good book. Grass or sand between your toes. Or, as a friend told me is his preference, waist-deep in a placid ocean, book in hand.
Last year, 50+ respondents helped build a 2023 summer reading list with over 100 books. Based on all of these recommendations, I made my way through a considerable number of them:
Chip War
The Guest
March (I-III)
The Hard Thing About Hard Things
4,000 Weeks
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
Lessons in Chemistry
One to Watch
Setting the Table [currently reading]
All of the Emily Henry books mentioned (Happy Place, Beach Read, Book Lovers, The People We Meet on Vacation)
Bird by Bird
I’m Glad My Mom Died
How to Avoid a Climate Disaster
The Overstory [currently reading]
I sincerely hope it was as helpful for all of you as it was for me. And I’d love to do it again!
I’m going to ask you to fill in a quick Google Form (< 30 seconds of your time) and I’ll compile everyone’s picks into one doc, sort them into an easily navigable format, provide a brief summary of all of the books in aggregate, and follow up in a second newsletter in the coming days with The List 2024.
Let’s do this thing!
